Mautic introduces the redesigned Mautibot built for better user experience

Introducing redesigned Mautibot for users

Mautic has always been built around people, not just software features. From the very beginning, there was this feeling that Mautic should feel approachable and friendly. Something that didn’t look corporate and distant.

That’s how Mautibot entered the picture. A tiny smiling character with big curious eyes. It showed up inside the interface, in documentation and later everywhere the community went. It wasn’t loud or demanding. It just quietly made things feel warmer and more personal.

A logo can feel like a company speaking at you. Mautibot felt like someone speaking with you.

Why we decided it was time for a refresh

Over time, design standards evolved and the original Mautibot started to show its age. The gradient colors and thin lines made it look a little outdated. At smaller sizes the tiny pupils disappeared and the expression became harder to read. It wasn’t unusable, just limited.

Old Mautibot

So rather than replacing it, the aim was to gently modernize it. We wanted a vector version that could scale beautifully at any size. We wanted stronger contrast and details that remained visible even at 28 pixels. And most importantly, we wanted to give it a range of expressions so it could communicate tone more clearly.

How the designer approached it

During the redesign, one idea shaped the direction. A mascot isn’t just decoration. It’s a way for the product to communicate in a more relatable and emotional way. The designer kept the familiar look we all know but refreshed it so it feels more modern and visually aligned with how things are designed today. The updated Mautibot still feels like the one we know, just cleaner, clearer and capable of expressing more states.

The new design makes it easier to use Mautibot in places where a traditional logo would feel too serious or disconnected. In user interfaces and educational content, a friendly character can make communication more intuitive and more human. The refreshed version allows us to do that in a consistent and scalable way.

The new Mautibot expressions

With the updated base design, we’re introducing a family of expressions, each one designed for specific communication moments. The cheerful Mautibot has bright wide eyes and a happy smile, perfect for celebrating successes or welcoming new users. It brings energy and warmth without being overwhelming.

The waving Mautibot carries the same positive tone but adds movement and friendliness. It fits naturally in places that mark a beginning or end whether it’s onboarding, exiting a feature or sending a message.

The thoughtful Mautibot appears with a curious expression and a slight tilt as if thinking through something. It’s ideal for FAQs, help areas and places where users might need extra clarity or gentle guidance.

Then there’s the assertive version, expressing a more serious mood with a raised finger as if saying wait a second. This one is built for warnings, reminders and moments where the user needs to pay attention.

For error states or unexpected issues, the worried Mautibot steps in. With wide eyes and an open mouth, it communicates that something went wrong in a clear but approachable way.

And finally, the dramatic fiery Mautibot brings a humorous but effective way to indicate serious or urgent problems. When everything is metaphorically on fire, this version says it loud and unmistakably.

A small change with long term impact

This refresh is more than a visual update. It’s a step toward strengthening connections across the global Mautic community. The new Mautibot feels modern, readable and expressive while staying true to the original spirit. It makes the product easier to understand, adds personality to communication and gives teams a friendly visual language to work with.

Mautibot will continue to evolve just like the community does. For now, we’re excited to introduce a version that feels familiar but fresh and ready for many new moments across the ecosystem.

A mascot may seem small, but sometimes the smallest character carries the biggest heart.

We’d like to extend our thanks to Lilly Willemsen for thoughtfully redesigning Mautibot and bringing a fresh yet familiar personality to life. We also appreciate Jasmine Gift for her support in shaping parts of this blog.
