Today I’m delighted to share a big step forward in how we turn local enthusiasm into lasting community impact. A few months back we invited our community to step up and apply to become a Mautic Ambassador for their country, region or university. We’ve had quite a lot of applications and I’m delighted to share that we’re kicking off the program by welcoming our first country-level and regional ambassadors and .
This program recognises contributors who bring people together, organise learning, and advocate for digital sovereignty through open source marketing automation. Ambassadors will lead local activities, share knowledge in their own languages and contexts, and connect newcomers with the wider Mautic community with training, resources, and recognition from our team.
Meet our first Country Ambassadors

Ricardo Freire – Portugal
Ricardo has been an active community voice in Portugal, helping agencies and brands discover how Mautic supports privacy‑respecting, multi‑channel marketing. He helped to organise last year’s Mautic Conference Europe in Lisbon which was a great success!
He runs a business under the brand crafting.email which provides numerous useful resources for Mautic users.
He brings practical experience running meetups, mentoring newcomers, and creating Portuguese resources that lower barriers to adoption.
We’re looking forward to seeing the Portugal community grow under his leadership.
Ashiqur Rahman – Bangladesh
Ashiqur Rahman is a Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) with strong expertise in Carbonio CE, an open-source enterprise email solution. He has in-depth knowledge of DNS records for mail systems and hands-on experience with Mautic and Postal for marketing automation and email delivery.
He’s had a lot of experience in building communities across Bangladesh, having previously organised large events that brought together freelancers for networking and learning.
He’s really excited to be bringing Mautic to the local community, including creating resources and tutorials in Bengali and organising online and local meetup groups.

Tejas Shah – India
Tejas D. Shah is an open-source enthusiast and Acquia Triple Certified Drupal 10 Expert, passionate about building scalable, community-driven digital experiences. With over a decade of experience across Drupal, DevOps, and cloud-based architecture, he currently serves as Principal Software Engineer at Prosple PTE LTD, where he leads high-performance Drupal infrastructure development on AWS.
Tejas aims to foster an active ecosystem of developers, marketers, and users around Mautic – organizing community meetups, workshops, and collaborations to grow the platform’s adoption and contribution base across India. His goal is to build a vibrant, inclusive Mautic community that reflects the spirit of open source and collective innovation. We can’t wait to see the dynamic community growing under Tejas’ leadership across India.
If you’re in Portugal, Bangladesh or India, keep an eye out for upcoming meetups, workshops, and content – and reach out if you’d like to collaborate. Both country-level ambassadors will be looking to grow the Mautic presence across the country by encouraging and empowering local meetup groups to get started and identifying regional and university ambassadors to join the program, so if you’re living in a city or studying at a university in either country and want to kick off a Mautic group there, reach out to the country ambassador and get involved!
Meet our first Regional Ambassadors
We’re delighted to also announce our first regional ambassadors who are responsible for growing and developing Mautic in a specific predefined area or large city.
Javier Quilez Cabello – Barcelona
Javier is a specialist in CRM and automation for non-profits, and is dedicated to empowering them through using open source solutions, including Mautic.
He’s really passionate about tech being used for good in the world, and develops workflows which enhance collaboration and amplify social impact.
Javier is going to be heading up Mautic activities in Barcelona as a Regional Ambassador, and we can’t wait to see his collaboration with Pep drive awareness and adoption of Mautic across the city.

Josep ‘Pep’ Oliveras Escura – Barcelona
Pep is a digital transformation consultant who has worked with Mautic for many years, and even carried out academic research into building open source digital experience platforms (DXPs) with Mautic.
He’s worked across the spectrum of the IT world, from support to development to consultancy, and is passionate to help people discover digital tools and share knowledge which transform the world.
Pep will be working alongside Javier in Barcelona, driving awareness of Mautic and encouraging more people to take up open source solutions.
Why ambassadors – and what’s next
In my experience, sustainable growth comes from empowered local leadership. Ambassadors coordinate what matters on the ground – the right topics, languages, and formats – while we provide a shared playbook, assets, and support. We value engagement over volume: one meaningful event that builds relationships is worth more than a flurry that fades.
Over the coming weeks we’ll be onboarding our first cohort, publishing their plans, and sharing opportunities to get involved. You’ll see country, regional, and university ambassadors working together – aligning calendars, sharing resources, and co‑hosting activities to avoid overlap and increase impact.
Become a Mautic Ambassador
If this resonates, we’d love to hear from you. We’re welcoming applications for:
- Country Ambassadors – national coordination and partnerships
 - Regional Ambassadors – state/county/city execution and community building
 - University Ambassadors – campus‑centred sharing, mentoring, and contributor on‑ramps

You’ll receive training, presentation templates, a private forum, regular calls with the project team, and occasional funding and swag for community activities. Expectations are simple: run at least two meaningful activities per quarter, share a short outcomes report, and uphold Mautic’s welcoming values.

I’m curious about where this takes us over the next year, especially how local leadership can help more organisations reclaim their marketing independence with open source. If you’re interested in collaborating, mentoring, or sponsoring activities in your area, drop a note in the forums or email [email protected].
