We’re launching regional pricing for Extended Long-Term Support (ELTS) and corporate membership today. I want to explain why, what changed, and what this means if you’re running Mautic or making money from Mautic anywhere in the world.
We had two problems
Problem 1: Security was only accessible to wealthy markets
When we launched ELTS in early 2025, I knew that the price point of $2,000 per instance – which we determined based on our market research and estimates of the cost to run the program – could be challenging for some organizations. What I didn’t fully grasp was how completely we’d priced out most of the world.
We know that ELTS is valuable to those who purchase it – the organizations using it rely on it completely to ensure they’re still using secure software after we’ve stopped supporting that version in the community. We also know that $2,000 is only reasonable in a handful of wealthy economies.
I’ve spoken with agencies in India where $2,000 translates to ₹180,000 – between 1-3 months of salary for a senior developer. I’ve talked with companies in Brazil where that same amount is prohibitively expensive, even though they desperately need security updates for their Mautic 4 instances.
Meanwhile, we estimate over 10,000 Mautic 4 instances are still running in production worldwide. Pretty much all of them are vulnerable. Their organizations most likely want to protect their data and their users. They simply can’t afford to, at our current pricing.
Problem 2: Supporting the project was out of reach for most of our community
The same pricing barrier exists for corporate membership. Agencies and organizations outside wealthy markets wanted to support Mautic’s development, get visibility in our member directory, and participate in governance. But starting at $1,200 annually made that impossible for most.
We have contributors and users in over 150 countries. Our community has always been global, even when our revenue model wasn’t.
I’ve struggled with this tension since taking on the Project Lead role. We need sustainable funding to pay for infrastructure, development, and the basics of running a project this size. We’ve been operating hand-to-mouth, dependent on a handful of large corporate members, most of them in Europe and North America.
That model hasn’t been working. We’re not growing our financial base fast enough to be sustainable, and we’re also not serving the majority of our community.
What we’re changing
We’re implementing regional pricing based on purchasing power parity. We use the Big Mac Index as our benchmark – not because we think Big Macs are the height of economic measurement, but because it’s a consistent, understandable proxy for what things actually cost in different economies, which we’ve used for some time to determine the pricing for individual membership.
To try to simplify things both for you – the Mautic user – and for the Mautic project’s running of the program, I’ve proposed organizing countries into three tiers. The service is identical across all tiers – same security patches, same access, same everything. What changes is the price.
Tier 1 includes predominantly wealthy economies: United States, United Kingdom, Western Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and Gulf states. Pricing stays at current rates.
Tier 2 covers predominantly emerging markets: Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, China, Malaysia, Thailand, South Africa, Turkey, and others. Pricing drops by roughly 50%.
Tier 3 encompasses predominantly developing economies: India, Pakistan, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Ukraine, Egypt, Argentina, and many more. Pricing drops by roughly 75%.
Where we’re headed
I need to be transparent about Mautic’s financial situation. We’re currently bringing in roughly $150,000 annually. We need to reach a least $250,000+ to properly fund development, maintain infrastructure, and support community programs.
That’s a significant gap. Regional pricing alone won’t close it, but I believe it’s a necessary step. We’ve been leaving revenue on the table by not serving markets we’ve priced out. Now we can have conversations with organizations worldwide about supporting Mautic in ways that make sense for their local economy. It also means we can build a much wider base for our financial stability, instead of being dependent on a small number of large organizations.
I’m also hoping this encourages more open source projects to consider regional pricing. Sustainability and accessibility aren’t opposing goals. Making your project accessible to more of the world’s developers and organizations can actually strengthen your financial position while living your values about inclusion and access.
Extended long-term support to protect your Mautic 4 instances
If you’re running Mautic 4 in production right now, you’re vulnerable to some pretty nasty bugs.
Community support ended in January 2025. Since then, we’ve identified 13 unpatched vulnerabilities:
- 2 critical severity
- 2 high severity
- 8 moderate severity
- 1 low severity
Through the ELTS program, we backport fixes for security issues reported in other versions of Mautic, and also those reported specifically in Mautic 4 which might no longer affect later versions. ELTS subscribers get patches for these immediately when the vulnerability is announced. Everyone else remains exposed.
The average data breach costs between $50,000 and $500,000 when you factor in notification requirements, potential fines, remediation, and reputation damage. ELTS is considerably cheaper than that risk.
ELTS pricing by tier
1-year subscription per instance:
| Tier | Price |
|---|---|
| Tier 1 | $2,000 |
| Tier 2 | $1,000 |
| Tier 3 | $500 |
2-year subscription per instance:
| Tier | Price |
|---|---|
| Tier 1 | $3,000 |
| Tier 2 | $1,500 |
| Tier 3 | $750 |
Who needs ELTS?
Agencies: If you’re managing Mautic 4 instances for clients, ELTS protects their data and your reputation. With regional pricing, agencies can now offer this protection more affordably if you’re located in Tier 2 and 3 markets.
Organizations: If you’re running your own Mautic 4 instance and need to extend its life while you plan migration to Mautic 5 or higher, ELTS gives you security coverage during that transition.
I know budgets are tight and security spending is hard to justify until something goes wrong. I’m hoping regional pricing makes this decision easier, especially for organizations outside wealthy markets who have been completely priced out until now.

Who benefits from membership?
Agencies and service providers
If you make money implementing Mautic, building integrations, or offering Mautic services, membership gives you visibility to potential clients actively looking for help. The member directory is searchable and surfaces providers across the Mautic ecosystem.
Organizations benefiting commercially from Mautic
If Mautic powers a significant part of your business and you want to ensure its continued development while having a voice in governance, membership lets you support the project while influencing its direction.
Companies wanting marketing opportunities
Higher tier memberships give you advertising space, promotion opportunities, and visibility that can drive leads while supporting the open source project you depend on.
Organizations who care about contributing to the open source economy
By becoming a member of Mautic, you’re actively supporting the growth of open source alternatives to tools like HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce and more. If you’re not bothered about the promotional opportunities you don’t have to take them up, but you can still demonstrate your commitment to being a maker, rather than a taker, of the software you use.

Stack your benefits with member discounts on ELTS
If you’re a corporate member, you also receive additional discounts on every ELTS subscription. You’re protecting your infrastructure and supporting the project’s sustainability simultaneously.
For agencies, this makes particular sense. Membership gives you visibility to get clients. ELTS protects those clients’ instances and gives you up to two more years per major version of Mautic. The member discount makes ELTS more affordable, and both together demonstrate your commitment to the Mautic ecosystem.
Why we’re doing this
I believe that regional pricing changes the equation. An agency in Brazil that couldn’t pay $2,000 for ELTS might find $1,000 reasonable. A company in India that couldn’t justify $1,200 for membership might find $500 accessible. These aren’t sales we would have captured at Tier 1 pricing.
I also believe deeply that the provision of paid extended security periods shouldn’t be reserved for wealthy markets. Every organization using Mautic deserves the option to lengthen the lifetime of their Mautic instance with extended support for security updates. Digital sovereignty and privacy matter everywhere, not just in countries with high GDP per capita.
Similarly, the ability to support an open source project you depend on, participate in its governance, and benefit from membership shouldn’t be limited to organizations in wealthy economies.
Open source projects often talk about being global and inclusive while maintaining pricing that only works in a handful of wealthy countries. I’ve found this contradiction uncomfortable, and I wanted to address it directly.
Some questions you might have
Is the service different between tiers?
No. You get identical security patches, updates, and access regardless of tier. Only the price changes based on local purchasing power.
How do you determine my tier?
We use your billing address – we expect your company to be registered in the country that you’re purchasing from. Don’t be the reason we need to move from a trust-based model to a verification-based model.
I’m in Tier 1 but the pricing is difficult for my organization. Can we talk?
Yes. Please reach out. We’re committed to making security accessible and can work with you to figure something out that works for both parties. I’m also open to feedback on the tier pricing and the country assignments. We can tweak and iterate this over time by discussing within the Council and agreeing on pricing changes.
Can I buy ELTS for multiple instances?
Yes, you can purchase multiple times if you have more than one instance to cover. If you’re an agency or organisation with a large fleet of Mautic instances, we offer volume licenses. Contact us directly for pricing via mau.tc/elts.
Do all membership benefits work the same across tiers?
Yes. You receive identical access, support, governance participation, and ELTS discounts regardless of which tier you’re in.
What currencies can I pay in?
We support multiple currencies through Stripe. You’ll see prices in your local currency during checkout. If they don’t show, or your country pricing doesn’t show for the tier, please reach out as some currencies need some workarounds at higher amounts.
