Welcoming Lukáš Drahý to the security team

I’m really pleased to share that Lukáš Drahý has joined the Mautic security team as a provisional member!

Lukáš has been part of our community for a long while, and it’s been lovely to have him back in the thick of things recently, this time working with Leuchtfeuer. Over the last few months he’s been getting stuck in on our Symfony 8 work (updating the framework that Mautic is built on), testing pull requests and picking up bugs that folks have reported, so when the team suggested he might be able to lend a hand on security, nobody needed much convincing!

Here’s a word from Lukáš:

I joined Mautic when it was an early-stage startup in 2018 and spent years working on the core and plugins. It was a really strong journey in challenging and exceptional environment. Now I’m back and happy to be supporting the security team.

What being a provisional member means

Everybody who joins the security team starts out as a provisional member. It’s a chance to get to know how the team works, help out on specific issues and show the care and discretion that security work asks for, before the team votes on full membership, usually after a few months. You can read more about how that works on our how to join the security team page.

Lukáš has already been busy reviewing and testing the fixes that are waiting in the queue, which is exactly where we need help right now. Our security team has had a lot of reports to work through this year, and every extra pair of experienced hands means fixes reach your Mautic instances sooner (and a little less pressure on the handful of people who’ve been carrying the load!).

Thank you!

Lukáš, welcome to the team, and thank you for putting your hand up. A big thank you also to Leuchtfeuer for giving Lukáš time in his working week to do this. Security work is a lot easier to sustain when employers back it, and it makes a huge difference to all of us who rely on Mautic.

Could you help keep Mautic secure?

If you’re a developer who knows Mautic well, or your company has someone who does, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to be a security expert to start, just curious, reliable and willing to learn how we work. You will need to contribute across the community and work with the core team before you can be considered for joining the security team, as outlined in our processes. Ideally your employer will give you a few hours a month in your working time to support the team, too.

Find out more at mautic.org/security, or drop the team an email at [email protected].
